Q Are you a new company?
A No, Clegg Bros. has been in business since 1955.

Q Who will put in my door?
A Clegg Brothers does not employ sub contractors so you can be sure that the installer is both licensed and trained.

Q How long will it take to put in my new garage door?
A It will take a trained Clegg Bros employee about 3 hours to install a single garage door.

Q How long will it take to put in my new garage door opener?
 A It should take about 1 ½ hours for a trained Clegg Bros employee to install an opener.

Q How do I know it is time to replace my garage door system?
A Here are several key factors to look at when deciding the right time to purchase a new garage door system:

1. If your garage door does not have an automatic reversal sensor or if the auto reverse sensor is not working properly.
2. If your garage door is noisy.
3. If your garage door opener is an older model with a fixed code instead of a rolling code which changes each time the door is used.
4. If you still need keys to open your garage door.
5. If your garage door opener does not have a battery back-up system.

Q How safe is my new opener?
A Your new opener is equipped with an important safety feature. There are photo eyes at the bottom of the door which are no more than 6” from the floor. The door will not close if there is anything in the way of the eyes and if anyone walks in front of the eyes when door is closing.

Q Do you stock parts for my garage door or garage door opener if I need them?
A Yes we have a fully stocked warehouse and a large selection of suppliers so that if we do not have the part you need on hand, we can get access to it pretty quickly.

Q Are you available if I need service for my garage door or my garage door opener?
A We have trucks stocked with most parts on the road 5 days a week with GPS, two way radios, and cell phones. We also offer 24 hour emergency service if you have a need during the evening or on the weekends.

Q If my door breaks can I buy parts from you?
A Yes, we are able to supply all parts except torsion springs which we cannot for liability reasons.

Q Are there any steps I can take to make my door last longer?
A Depending on use, you should have your door serviced twice a year. During a service appointment, our Factory Trained Technicians will lube, and check door and operator over. You should not use grease and WD40 does not last.

Q How can I keep my children safe when playing in and around my garage?
A Our top safety tips for the little ones are:

1. Keep all remotes and control buttons out of their reach
2. Test the reverse mechanism on your garage door opener monthly. If your opener has not been replaced since 1993, consider updating it.
3. Teach your children the importance of keeping their fingers clear of door sections.

Q How do I test the reverse mechanism on my garage door?
A Place a piece of 2x4 or a roll of paper towels in the door’s path. Attempt to close your garage door. The door should automatically reverse upon contact. If it does not, it could be dangerous to small children or pets, consider calling Clegg Brother’s for a repair.

Q How often should I do a safety check on my garage door?
A You should test the reverse mechanism on your garage door opener once a month.

Q The garage door opener in my older home still works, how can I be sure it is safe?
A Garage Door Openers manufactured prior to 1993 were not governed by federal law requiring reverse mechanisms to be installed. If your system is older than that, consider updating it.

Q How do I know which Garage Door Opener is the best choice for me?
A Each garage door opener has its advantages. The belt drive garage door opener is the quietest and would be best for garages that have a room above or adjacent to them. Of course the chain drive garage door opener has been around the longest and offers dependable performance year after year.

Q Why is my garage door so noisy?
A There are several reasons a garage door could be making unnecessary noise. The leading culprits are:

1. Your door’s rollers and bearings are worn out.
2. Your door has metal rollers not nylon which are much quieter.
3. Your door is not balanced properly or is out of alignment.
4. The door needs to be oiled.

Q How can I tell if my door is balanced properly?
A Here are some steps to take to test your doors balance:

1. Lift up the door half way.
2. Let go of the door. If the door is balanced it will remain stationary once you let it go. If the door tries to close, the spring has lost tension and needs replacement or it simply needs tightening.

Q One of the springs on my garage door broke. Do I need to have them both replaced?
A It is a good idea. If one spring goes, it generally means the other is not far behind. You will save time, money and hassle by scheduling the repair for the replacement of two springs instead of doing them as they break one at a time.

Q How do I know what size garage door I will need?
A Garage door sizes are always shown with width first then height. Measure the width then height of your finished garage door opening.  We would be happy to come out and visit you for a Free, in home consultation!

Q I hit my garage door damaging the bottom two sections. Can I replace the bottom two sections?
A Yes, as long as they are still available, you can replace sections of your garage door.

Q Who is responsible for disposing of my old doors?
A When you purchase a new garage door from Clegg Brothers and have it installed, we take care of hauling away and disposing of your current garage door.
